Our Signature Program—USA Fellows

Annually 50 artists are named USA Fellows; each receives a $50,000 unrestricted grant.

The program supports artists in all career stages, including emerging and mid-career artists, as well as established figures. The fellowships are awarded across a broad array of disciplines:

  • Architecture and Design
  • Crafts and Traditional Arts
  • Dance
  • Literature
  • Media
  • Music
  • Theater Arts
  • Visual Arts

USA Fellow Story:Beth Ann Fennelly

There is a poet in Oxford, Mississippi, who passes the living ghost of Faulkner on her way to the classroom where she teaches, the bedroom where she writes, the park where she pushes her daughter and son on swings. She notices everything.
