Susan Bay-Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy

Leonard and Susan Bay-Nimoy are active supporters of the arts. They are president and vice president, respectively, of the Leonard and Susan Bay-Nimoy Family Foundation, founded in 2003 to provide funding for educational and arts programs. The first grant program of the foundation is the Nimoy Visual Artist Residencies, funding organizations that support contemporary visual artists, connecting contemporary visual artists working in communities who have a goal of mentoring and teaching others, especially young and aspiring artists. The Nimoys are also major supporters of Symphony Space in New York, the MOCA Focus series of exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and the recent renovation and expansion of the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. They are also known for their leadership and philanthropic generosity in the Jewish community.
Mr. Nimoy is widely known as an actor, gaining international recognition for his Emmy-nominated role as Mr. Spock on the Star Trek television series and films, and has since been featured in many other television, stage, and screen productions. He is also a highly regarded director, poet, and photographer. Ms. Bay-Nimoy has produced television programs and documentaries, most recently on the history of Mother Jones and the artists Liza Lou and Twyla Tharp.
