Gillian Wynn
The Wynn Family Foundation

Gillian Wynn’s passion for the arts was sparked at an early age. Her mother’s efforts to bring culture to the lives of her children provided a healthy foundation upon which Gillian would continue to build. She received her B.A. in the History of Art (cum laude) from Yale University and since then has continued to pursue her love of both theater and dance by being actively involved in both artistic communities.

Perhaps Ms. Wynn’s attraction to the arts could very well be explained as hereditary, given her family tradition. Her parents, Steve and Elaine Wynn, are long-time patrons of the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Her father was also appointed as a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to their philanthropic participation in the arts, the family has assembled an important collection of nineteenth- and twentieth-century paintings. Ms. Wynn is a trustee of the Wynn Family Foundation.

Ms. Wynn is a board member of the Nevada Ballet Theater and chaired the annual gala in 2007 and 2008. She also co-chaired the culminating Workshop Gala for the School of American Ballet, the nation’s leading ballet academy, in New York City. Ms. Wynn is also a patron of Dance at the Music Center, a program that brings dance companies from around the world to perform in Los Angeles. She is a member of H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Ease Abuse Related Trauma), an organization that supports the efforts of Dr. Astrid Heger and her work at the Violence Intervention Program and the Center for the Vulnerable Child (Los Angeles). An avid nature-lover and part-time Idahoan, Ms. Wynn is a member of the Idaho Conservation League, the primary voice of wilderness protection in the state. Currently, she serves on the selection jury for the Sun Valley Arts & Crafts Festival (Idaho), one of the nation’s most well-regarded and well-attended festivals of its kind.
