As a writer, performer, designer, director, and puppeteer, Michael Sommers has created work for international festivals, leading theaters, and backyards, parks, and shelters. His deeply intricate and emotionally resonant creations have toured Mayan villages, the streets of the Czech Republic, and U.S. theaters, including the Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the Guthrie Theater, the Seattle Children’s Theatre, the Denver Center for Performing Arts, and many more. Sommers is the founder and artistic director of Open Eye Figure Theatre and a professor in the Interdisciplinary Program for the Collaborative Arts at the University of Minnesota.
