Performing artist, director, writer, and activist Rhodessa Jones is the co–artistic director of Cultural Odyssey; artistic director of the San Francisco International Arts Festival; and founder and director of the Medea Project, an internationally acclaimed workshop making theater with and for incarcerated women. Her work has been seen throughout South Africa and the West Indies, as well as in residencies, performances, and keynote engagements across the United States. Jones’s commitment to artistic activism has been celebrated in documentaries and publications, includingA Beginner’s Guide to Community-Based Arts,Colored Contradictions: An Anthology of Contemporary African American Plays, andImagining Medea: Rhodessa Jones and Theater for Incarcerated Women.
