Taeyoon Choi is a contemporary artist and educator from South Korea, currently based in Detroit, Michigan. With a background in both art and engineering, Choi's work explores the intersections of technology, education, and social engagement. He is committed to expanding access and equity through creative and community-based learning. In 2013, he co-founded the School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) in New York City, a hybrid art school that reimagines the relationships between code, design, and pedagogy. Over seven years, he organized classes and collaborative projects that integrated electronics, coding, and artistic practice, fostering an inclusive culture of critical and poetic approaches to technology. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Digital Art at Wayne State University, where he continues to develop artistic and educational initiatives that bridge art, computation, and civic engagement. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the New Museum and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Korea, and Art Sonje Center in Seoul. Choi is a former Processing Foundation advisor and currently serves on the board of AFIELD, a nonprofit supporting artist-led systems change.
