Through utilitarian songs, hymns, monologues, dance-calls, puppets, and tunes, I want to create ecstasy, release, and calls to action with instruments, humor, and stagecraft.”

Willi Carlisle is a folksinger, theater-artist, and writer. A multi-instrumentalist skilled on banjo, fiddle, guitar, squeezebox, and harmonica, Carlisle creates conventional and experimental works that blend living folklore with social and civic practice. He has a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and Performance Studies from Knox College, and an MFA in Poetry from the University of Arkansas.
