Embrace the world around you and recognize your own worth. We are all valuable.”
Edra Soto

When do you work best?

In the mornings. I’m most lucid early in the day, and it can be a very productive time.

How has your practice changed over time?

It has become more focused and fluid.

What fuels you?

It’s the moments we’re experiencing and participating in larger conversations. I feel like I need to work hard to be part of it, but that motivates me more than anything and pushes me to challenge myself.

What material do you work with and why?

It varies by project, as my ideas influence my material choices.

How do you get unstuck?

I hardly feel stuck! There’s so much to say and connect with!

Where do you find inspiration?

Nearly everything – creation, humanity, love, pain, justice.

Who has influenced you and your work?

My parents, my upbringing, and working-class communities.

Who do you hope to influence?

Anyone willing to consider my perspective.

Why are you an artist?

Because I want to express myself in ways other than words.

What advice would you give other artists?

Embrace the world around you and recognize your own worth. We are all valuable.

What question would you like to ask other artists?

What motivates you to communicate the way you do?
